Gold Coast marathon pace runner alive on the Internet

Alive Technologies in collaboration with Bond Wireless streamed a live webcast of former Olympian Pat Carroll running in the Gold Coast Marathon.

Developed by Gold Coast company Alive Technologies, the system uses the Alive Heart Monitor, a Bluetooth GPS and Bluetooth mobile phone worn by the runner. Information from the Heart Monitor and GPS is transmitted to a server via GPRS over the mobile phone network. Anyone can then log onto the website to monitor the runner's progress.

The website shows Pat's position on a map of the Gold Coast Marathon course in real-time, with graphs of his ECG, heart rate, speed and altitude.

Pat Carroll, Australia’s fourth fastest marathon runner on the all-time list with a personal best of 2.09.39, now retired from major competition, was a three hour pace runner in the Gold Coast Marathon.
